The ROFL Box - '05 xB
90 day: 46.85 mpg (US)
Peaking in from the Midwest

Hello, My name is Don and I currently reside in Des Moines, Iowa

I was turned onto this whole hypermiling thing by Ivan "trikkoncepts" a friend of mine from Florida... and Ive been playing around with it for a bit, and well, finally decided to sign up

so far Ive hit 41mpg in my daily driven show car (i use that term very loosely, as it looks nothing like a show car at the moment) a 2005 Scion xB... down 2" with a fully molded lip kit, 17" wheels, Full stereo system (pushing about 3000 watts and weighing in at about 100lbs) full interior, partial belly pan and about a full roll of blue tape on the front end.

This is what she looks like without the tape...

Welcome!

Did the 17" wheels improve your gearing at all? 41mpg is pretty darn good for the xB, for what I can see.

The gearing is identical, the 205/40/17 is .2" smaller in diameter than the 185/60 that is stock on the cars...

I really play alot with engine off coasting and just coasting in general, Iowa is rather hilly, so it plays in my favor...

Welcome to the forum. Shaved door handles? That'll help aero too!

Yeah, that was more for aesthetics... didnt even think about that

handles, front and rear marker lights, molded lip kit, and the hatch - all shaved

Welcome to the site. I'm in Des Moines also. I've been looking for someone else around here that has a similar attitude towards efficiency. Most people still just guzzle as fast as usual and complain about the prices, even though, we have some of the lowest prices in the country thanks to the competition we get with ethanol.

I lived in Orlando for one summer. Let's just say it's "interesting". I do like it here better about 98% of the time.
