Smile Personal best w/ Corolla A/T

When i first joined here in October, the highest i had gotten with my '05 Toyota Corolla A/T was 45.4mpg. That was an all highway tank with a trip from MA to PA and back.

A couple years ago i installed an aftermarket header and larger aftermarket muffler when i was into faster acceleration . I always thought they would help with f/e, but wasn't keeping track at the time. Three weeks ago i got my hands on a stock muffler and had it installed it for cheap. Two weekends ago i found another guy with a Corolla who wanted my aftermarket header. I did the swap and now have a stock exhaust manifold. I could tell after i did the changes back to stock, torque and f/e increased.

I filled up today and got the best tank i've ever had: 48.3mpg. I drove most highway with about 25% city driving. I had also put my summer tires on at the begining of the tank, which helped out a bit, and made a short trip to NY and back.

I can't wait to see what's going to happen when it really starts to get warm.

Very impressive from an AT Corolla. I think you're onto something with the stock intake and exhaust.

Those Corolla's are mileage machines, stock or otherwise. I've taken my grandfather's 2002 AT on a couple trips and ~45mpg highway is as easy as setting the CC at ~60mph.

Tires are at 52psi front and 50psi rear. I always try to fill up at Shell. If i can't get to a Shell station, any other top teir gas will do.
