Plywood Fun

You should all try this one day. Keep a spare sheet of plywood, and jump with it in high winds, you can "fly" for a little while.

Now to my story.

When I was younger 15 or so, I did random stuff for fun. One day I got the bright idea to use and umbrella to jump out of the tree, it collapsed and I got really angry. So I went out the the shed and got a piece of plywood. It was really then, but so was I, so I didn't really worry about it breaking. I ended up jumping off a 30 foot tree with this plywood "handed" up to me by some friends. I flew down pretty well, but my fingers slipped off from where I was holding, and it seemed to dig into my hands. So I cut holes out for my hands and set off again. This time my other friends thought it would be a good idea to do it. (he was about 10lbs heavier than I) He got up on his house, jumped off, and about half way down, the board snapped. A corner of it stabbed up in his dad's car and he bounced off the grass, messing up an angle.

Moral? I don't know, lose weight?

LMAO - When I was younger, I jumped off a 20 foot stair case with a 55 gallon contractor's bag strapped to my ass. THAT was not fun. Later, I learned that you fall a good distance before the bag will actually create any drag... I had intended to try it from a much higher place, but my Father explained the laws of Mortality to me, and I decided I'd rather learn about physics in books than first hand.

I have flown off a house on a sheet of OSB, though. Roofing in the wind isn't really safe.

...nah, the moral is: gravity always wins! cause it's the universal 'motivating' force.

Nah, moral is that if you'd studied up a bit on aerodynamics and practical engineering, you could have invented the hang glider :-)

I just don't think MadisonMPG understood the true gravity of the situation...
