POD Filter - good or bad?

How does a POD work - Hardtuned.net

I was reading that after curiously thinking about a pod filter.

A cold air intake would cause the car to use more fuel right?
What about air restriction - less restriction = more air, but won't it introduce more fuel to get the magical 14.7:1 ratio ?
Is there any FE benefit in a pod filter (instead of a WAI)?

To keep the answer short and simple, a pod or high flow OEM replacement won't help or hurt fuel economy at all.

A pod filter will do more harm than good in my experience. Air boxes are tuned for flow and resonance, and replacing them with a pod filter will hurt your throttle response and mid-range torque - costing mpg.

At WOT it may give you slightly more power, but it will hurt performance and MPG everywhere else.

Washable replacement filters like K&N aren't any benefit either from what I've seen, and usually don't filter as well as OEM-style pleated paper.

One of the site's creators did a test and found no difference. You may get improvements on a tuned engine but as a direct replacement for OEM save your money.
