potential aero gains on integra?
I have a 94 Acura integra see my build thread HERE
I Have a full frontal belly pan, and am planning to finish it out all the way to the back with a departure angle on the rear of ~4.5 degrees. My question is, assuming a full belly pan, how much of a gain could one expect to see by making a kamback on this car being that the back glass isn't THAT far off the optimal angle as it is. I am thinking about going all the way to the end of the trunk. Or cover at leas 2/3 of the back glass https://preview.ibb.co/h03VLQ/Aeropimplate.png similar to how I did on my mustang. https://preview.ibb.co/eaHPfQ/156249...93509120_n.jpg |

I have a similar situation with my new VW Dasher. My intention is to make a Kammback similar to the upper piece on your Mustang. The top would be about the length of yours, but the sides would be angled to reach further down the sides of the liftback. I want to make it out of perforated metal*, but that would be a large piece. *because reasons |

I've yet to be able to predict what one might gain from any particular mod.
Kamm and Fachsenfeld, with a 1/10-scale model of a 'car' with about the same amount of aft-body as the Integra; going from a Jaray,to Kamm tail end,saw Cd 0.33 got to Cd 0.25.You might consider this a best-case-scenario. Worst case would be zero-gain,as MetroMPG saw on a CIVIC project if I remember correctly. |
