Yeah I'm almost positive its the same engine. Or at least close! KIA paid mazda for the engine!

Nice thread and interesting ways of doing these mods, makes them so much simpler to understand (who needs to drill holes when zipties work just fine :P ). It's kind of amazing how Kia and Mazda used the same "racing" engine in their cars. Anyways, subbed!

Any plans on a final drive swap? MX-3 comes with a 4.388 FD, but the MX-6 comes with a 4.105 FD, all gears are same if you want to swap the whole tranny. Also, I see in your vehicle description that you are using an mpguino. I take it that there is was no OBD-2 that early?

Wow, I hadn't seen that post. No I don't have plans on changing the FD.

She's strictly OBD-1, if I want to read engine codes I have to connect a lightbulb to the data connector and count blinks!

Recently she stopped starting on me, I was afraid I'd have to dissamble the starter, but it turned out to be just corrosion on the solenoid connector. I also cleaned the wire and connector for the motor, now she cranks in attack mode!
