Project: electric assisted quadracycle or ped

I've been lurking for sometime soaking up as much knowledge as possiable to bring my project to life. Being well on the way at the drawing board, there are a few things, I've not found an answer for. OK, it will be chain driven, two seater side by side pedals, like on a paddle boat. It will be pretty heavy duty. I want the pedals to coast or engage depending on the need, by clutch or ? Not clear on centripetal clutch, or would it need a derailer? Any suggestion?

Wow, that pretty spendy! Looks like a cross of coaster brake and centripetal clutch. Still look for a DIY fix. Thanks

This design looks like it uses conventional bicycle parts to drive the rear wheels independently. I think the plans are $17 from their website.

Then you might be able to adapt a kit like this to it:

Or if you use conventional bicycle forks for your front wheels you can use hub motor wheels in the front.

What type of chain reversing mechanism does it have for the stoker?

it has two open gears, I will take some pictures as soon as I get a chance, Ithere are just too many mechanical bit, gears, chains, sprockets, etc.

Would one of these be heavy duty enough? I'm using is 36v & controller out of a ezgo golf cart & motorcycle tires. The design will be like a horseless carriage/beach surrey.

I don't think the frame strong right? All that right?
First thing what tools do you need for the job?
Walk around the machine and see if any thing looks unsafe
outline the steps to complete the job.
You want bug splat on the goggles I guess and all that.

Thanks for the insight. Just what I was looking for, help to make sure I'm not missing anything. The project will be built from the frame up. The frame design is taken from original electric horseless carriage spec's & diagrams adapted to include pedals. Full shop and tools are at the ready, while a massing the parts. Gaining from the links given, the clutch will have to manufactured. If one beefy enough can't be found.
