Before my wheel discs I had the grille block, airdam, and wiper cover. But almost nobody noticed anything till I put on the wheel discs. Now EVERYBODY notices the mods and asks about them.

donee, I had never tried to quantify the effect of ambient temperature on fuel economy ... but I believe you are correct. I fueled up in mid trip and when I finally fueled up again (a stint which inlcuded the 2nd half of my trip) I got over 41mpg ... so my trip economy alone was probably 41+ ... good, but still off my typical summer trip economy of 42-43+mpg.

So, what does this say about the disks? Nothing really. As pointed out here in other threads, economy gains will be modest and there are so many variables involved that I'll probably never be able to quantify savings (if any) that I'm getting.

'jams, the noise doesn't bother me too much ... and I'm leery of mucking up my rims with caulk so I'm living with it for now.

One thing that IS annoying is the way these things loosen up over time. I check them and have to pound closed the slight gaps that appear about every week. I think the noise and the loosening comes from the rims flexing slightly as I drive.

Oh well, I still like the way they look.

All it took was a thin bead around the inside and outside of where the hooks meet the disc. It made the noise go down by about 95%, I'd say.

As for fitment, I've heard the hubcapmike and JCWhitney steel discs don't fit as tight as the Moon aluminum discs. I have the latter, and the fact that I couldn't lose one if I wanted to was worth the extra money.

I've considered getting rubbing compound, and polishing the Moon discs, though I'm terrified of ruining them. It's still tempting, though. Having a mirror shine would put every pompous-ass in town to shame.

I had a set of moon-discs (just shipped them to another member today) and I did not care for the look on my car... which is odd, because in my mind I imagine them looking great.

But the hubcaps I am saving up for are practically pizza pans, so I will easily be able to tape up the holes and make them superb

Unfortunately, they are fairly rare and when they pop up on ebay, it's one at a time, usually $20 each, so I'll be settling for a cheaper aftermarket set that lacks the Ford symbol.
