Surely nobody cares how aerodynamic a road roller is.
If it gets the kids to school all is fine.

That may well be a Raymond Loewy design by the way.
He was involved with International Harvester at the time.

OTOH, the ad appears to be a fake: http://www.weirduniverse.net/blog/co...d_by_doris_day
Most notably, in the comments section:
Quote:
Yes, this is one of mine. The roller is hand-drawn, and I deliberately placed poor Doris teetering on the edge with no ladder or means to get down . "Series 56" was off the top of my head - and the reason that the ad is full of spurious information (vs. carefully researched facts) is that it was never intended to be a hoax, or to fool people, it was a half-hour photoshop & airbrush lark done to amuse my friends at lunchtime. It migrated off my personal facebook page; it wasn't done for the public at large. It's so obviously a joke, I can't understand why people would waste their time parsing the content, trying to find 'proof' that it's 'fake.' Kudos to those of you who chalked it up to foolishness, because that's all it was ever supposed to be - a glance and a laugh (hopefully).
Happy April 1st Easter, everyone...

Thanks I hadn't read the comments. JACG suggested as much, it being April the First.

I'd have bet on Bruce McCall. It has an air of '58 Bulgemobile to it.

It's offtopic for the thread but the only April Fool's Day joke I liked was Porsche's:

Porsche announces Mission E Tractor

I recognize the hood line from Porsche's 3-cylinder air-cooled days.

Some gasoline-powered Porsche tractors had been imported to Brazil, mostly to be used in coffee plantations, because their exhaust fumes were reported to not interfere with the coffee quality as much as Diesel fumes would.

When we get electric tractors, will the coffee get even better tasting?

It’s called the SESAM (Sustainable Energy Supply for Agricultural Machinery), and seems to be the first fully electric tractor.
John Deere Electric Tractor SESAM

Two 150 kW electric motors can be used together, or as a single drive unit, while second motor to incorporate other fucntionality, like a hydraulic pump.
If you Google "electric tractors" and click "Shopping" there are lots of smaller ones on the market.

If it carries the batteries like a Tesla it should be good on side-hills (the tractor killer).

Wrong thread because it's too aero?

Just A Car Guy: An expensive and luxurious Maybach converted into a company car for a sharpener - Auto & Technik Museum Sinsheim

Just A Car Guy: 1938 Mercury convertible ended up in Italy by way of a service member who was stationed there. At some point, it was converted to what is called an “autostarter” for horse racing. It's now in Vicentina, Italy with a $24,50

I think so, because a hot dog has a nice long aspect ratio.

I would love to see it in a wind tunnel with smoke blowing about to be sure though.

What’s The Greatest Car That Was Never Built?

Quote:
One car springs to mind. You might be surprised to know that Henry Ford and Thomas Edison were good friends, and Ford admired Edison a great deal. Ford built his own electric car in 1913 (pictured above), but in 1914, the two collaborated on a project to build an affordable electric car. It was going to use Edison's own battery technology, but both their car and battery workshops burned down in a fire.

I'm not sure how they steered that thing.
