Replace tires with skinniest tires recommended by OEM

"Replace tires with skinniest tires recommended by OEM" where can I find what the skinniest tire I can put on my 1997 accord? and which number is that in the tire size thing like "185/65/15" its the 185 that tells how skinny right?

I want to go skinnier but taller but with the same rim size. I remember having the taller rims on my neon, I LOVED adding in that extra 10% to each miles driven since they were 10% bigger

Skinnier tires may have reduced weight/load limit, so keep that in mind when shopping. Make sure you won't be hauling more weight than your new tires can take.

I don't know about your Accord, but my 307 already came with the skinniest OEM tire (195/65R15). But I run 185's in the winter with no problems.

Barry's Tire Tech

Based on that, the "skinny tire" advice doesn't seem to be as important as selecting tires with LRR.

- AND -

Load carrying capacity seems to be important. Bigger (in terms of load carrying capacity) seems also to be better.

there are some michalin radial x tires (lrr) on craigslist with the rims on them for $100, I would mount them on my accords rims (since the others are 5 lug) and use those...

Only 1 problem, they are for a Jimmy so they are way bigger than the stock accord wheels lol, thats lrr tires and can add 18% at the end of each fuel log, haha

my stock is 185/65/15, the jimmy's are 235/75/15

Random,
I use TIRE RACK to get my tires. they have a chart the shows the diameter and alloable width. they say the stock tire is 195/65/15 w 25inch diameter. If you just run that tire you'll improve your mileage.

235/75/15 has a 28.3inch diameter also is probably too wide for the stock rim
