Sounds to me like your keyfob might need to be replaced. It may get desensitized if it stays next to a cell phone for a prolonged period of time. Does it work for the trunk or the passenger side of the vehicle? If not, I would guess the sensor in the door though it's the first time I've heard of such an issue. My car is over 2 years old, never have I once had a problem with the door button.
