In this system, the cam followers of the intake primary rocker arms are fitted with rollers that minimize friction on the cam's contact surfaces. (Each roller turns on a needle roller bearing.)
Honda uses them in the Insight engine (probably others.)

So I should have added: I bet it would make a very small difference.

I also believe Honda uses them in the D15z1.

If you are going to install roller rockers, I would go all the way in reducing engine friction. Coat the skirts of your pistons with MoS2, size oil galleries, blueprint and balance the engine, etc. There are many gains to be had in the average engine.

Yes, roller rockers are a very good idea ... but all by themselves, you probably won't notice any savings.

If you have a Geo Metro, and have a spare engine you are rebuilding, I would consider these as one of a few mods designed to maximize efficiency.

But as an after-market add-on to save $$$ and fuel? Nope, I wouldn't bother.

Of course, the real benefit of having roller rockers is being able to use a cam with steeper angles. See if you can find an aftermarket cam that offers a higher torque, lower peak rpm profile. If you're going to do one, it'd be a shame not to do the other. (but yes, will lower internal engine friction as well).

Try getting your internals coated with a dry film lubricant. I have read documentation of 68hp gains in a V8. Friction kills efficiency.

BTW I'm Chris, nice to meet everyone.
