New guy in Chitown

Hey everyone. My name is Mike and I currently drive a 2011 Toyota Tacoma. It is supercharged and I am interested in increasing my MPG so I joined up. I have been lurking for a while reading up on the custom bed cap projects. I might be tackling one this summer depending on time. I look forwards to sharing with everyone.

Is there a clutch on the supercharger?

No, and it's not needed. The supercharger is vacuum driven and more times than not and not in the boost at all. I generally take it very easy, 55 - 60 in the right-hand lane around Chicago. But I am greedy and I want good gas mileage, the ability to blast down the 1/4 mile, haul a load from Home Depot, and take my family wherever I need to go.

The truck is rated at 15/20/17. My life time average is 20.1. I would like to raise that and get some 25+mpg tanks. Nothing too extreme, but I know aerodynamics is what kills the truck.

I use the Torque App connected to a 7" Andrdoid tablet to monitor engine performance as well as MPG. It took me about 6 months to play with the settings, but now I am usually within a 1/10 or two when I calculate the mileage out manually.
