rubber gasket on windshield - 99 honda civic

The windshield was replaced today, and I'm pretty sure the previous gasket was flat and flush with the glass all the way around.

However the new gasket has a double layer sticking up on both sides, and the top single layer isn't flush.

Isn't the gasket supposed to be a single flush layer all the way?

Can someone confirm this for me?

My concern is with this being right in front and being a big drag with the wind.

double windshied gasket from honda

Well this is interesting.

The fellow says that's the same one he took off, and that it's the factory gasket from Honda.

That sure is something they should change right away.

The gaskets on my Celebrities are flat, and both of those cars can coast a long time, much longer than the Honda, which is quite surprising.

maybe they put it back on wrong.

there's a few variables that contribute to coasting(aerodynamics, gearing, tires....). my 1994 accord(AT) can coast for longer than my 1994 civic hatchback(AT) but my civic averages 35 mpg in the city, while my accord struggles to get to 27 mpg

My 1-ton 15-passenger diesel van would coast forever, but only got about 12-15 mpg.

^^Inertia, momentum, total Kinetic energy(Ek=1/2mv2). all factors for coasting
