Seat Ibiza ecomotive

Just found this fuel efficient version of the ibiza. Mods include grill block, new wheels, no spare tire and a couple of other aerodynamic things like a little wing.
And as usual, this will not be available in the US.

That's the Spanish based company, right? I think I remember driving one of those in Gran Turismo 4 . It's too bad that American companies can't make more economic versions of their best selling vehicles more frequently than they do now.

In France only two diesel models are labeled ecomotive :
  • Ibiza 1.4 TDi 80hp with 60+ mpg and <100g/km of CO2.
  • Leon 1.9 TDi 105hp with 50+ mpg and <120g/km of CO2
Both have a particle filter.

From the web site they reduced the weight, improved aerodynamic and used overinflated thinner tires.

The prius is rated ~55 mpg and 104g/km of CO2, but both seat are smaller.

Seat is Spanish.

Denis.

Damn US...It's a good looking car, I think. VW owns SEAT? Why not bring it over?

Sportive versions of 2 small cars

Renault and Fiat have sportive versions of 2 small cars :
As the seat Ibiza, these have "spoilers" around the wheels. Do you think they are effective in an aerodynamic point of view ?

I'm thinking about these spoilers around front wheels as front wheel skirts may be too difficult.

Thanks in advance,

Denis.

Not anymore, they are owned the Volkswagen-Audi Group now, so it's more than likely the Ibiza is a VW Polo or Golf with a different setup.

Thanks for the clarification.

The car companies need to release economic versions of their most popular versions. There is an XFi waiting under every hood in America .

I do absolutely agree that US car companies need to build high-MPG versions of their product line. The Cobalt XFE was simplisity incarnate - A Cobalt with a stick shift, a taller gear and a (slightly) lower ride height.

Why don't they?

Lack of manual transmission manufacturing capacity.

Belief that the market demands automatics that allow texting while driving.

The little SEAT (or whatever it is) is dead because of regulations on cars sold in the US.
