Seeking short block for '97 Metro 1.0l

Cupcake got benched a while back. It's been sitting in the garage, looking dejected for over a year. I'm finally in a positron to get him back on the road, but we need a block.

What does it need to run again? Can't you just sleeve its stock block?

I'm not sure what you mean by sleeving. But it threw a rod and knocked a half-dollar sized hole in the block. I'm pretty confident I need a new block.

In case of a dry-sleeve engine, it usually starts with a slight overbore to match the wear on all the cylinders equally, and then fit a new sleeve on each.

It's worse that I thought it was, so the only way might be finding a replacement block. Too bad this engine had already been phased out elsewhere, otherwise it shouldn't be so hard to attempt importing a replacement block. But anyway, is an engine swap totally out of question? Maybe you could either fit the engine out of some of those Kei trucks that have been imported for off-road use or source a 4-cyl G-series engine which is still used in other countries.

There is still lots of Metro stuff out there, I would go ask at Geometroforum.com. I was a member there while I drove Metros for 8 years. Good group..

They are a good group indeed. I've got a possible source for a block. Hoping they can have it crated and shipped soon. Thanks for the support, guys!
