SG2 - Negative MPG ?

Had a busy day today and had some time limits which meant I had to use higher speeds than normal. So I took advantage of fuel cut-off and higher speeds to get my instant SG2 MPG to read as high as possible (e.g. 5645mpg) whilst coasting at 80+ - I have a 6sp so why not use it

The SG2 and on-board averages are getting much closer - despite not being below 75 much on the way back I got 56.7 on the SG2 and 57.2 on the on-board.

Anyhoo one thing I did notice was on some occasions the SG2 actually read negative instant MPG on a couple of occasions. It was when things were 'complicated' - e.g. in traffic, around the transition either to or from a pulse vs a glide - so I can't pinpoint exactly why.

Anyone else seen this ?

Negative MPG doesn't even make sense.

Going negative miles in a gallon?

Well, if MPG = Miles travelled / fuel used

then if Miles or fuel is negative then the result could be negative.

I was going forwards at the time so I suppose the engine was putting fuel back into the tank from the exhaust.
