Side mirror visor

I came across this product while surfing the web and wanted to know if it would help, hurt or cause no effect to aerodynamics. I figured I would ask the experts!

Unfortunately, I can't post a link in a thread yet, but it is basically a rubber piece that extends out from the inner side of the top of the side mirror. If you search for side mirror visor on Amazon, you will see it.

Thanks for your help!

Jeff

Yeah exactly that! Any use to it, aerodynamically?

I don't think it would hurt anything since it looks like it is designed to sit in out of the wind. I doubt very much that you would see any gains because of it. If it helps you see more clearly, it may be worth it. If you wanted to design/build your own, and attach them to the mirror housing (not stick them onto the mirror as shown in the picture) you may be able to design some benefit into them. Any benefits would likely be very small (non measurable by coast down means) if we are talking about a 1" extension.

The way it is set in the picture, no aero affect. It might work if it was on the trailing edge of the mirror but the effects would prob be neglible.

Edit:Haha wyatt posted first.

Thanks guys!
I figured it would be negligible, but if I were to get them, I wanted to make sure first that it didn't make things worse, no matter how small the difference would be!

Search here for "box cavity coventry documents". It's like a box cavity, ie phantom boat tail. Of course even if you made a full, solid mirror boat tail you still may not see coast down benefits.

I saw the articles about the box cavity, good stuff! I agree, the coast down test would probably not show very good improvement, but if I can do it for only a couple of dollars, maybe it would be worth it.

Then again, perhaps not. Even at a couple dollars the ROI might be five years or more on such a small mod. That's why I no longer tape panel gaps and whatnot- it may not even be worth the material cost.
