While driving from Minneapolis to Wisconsin a couple months ago, I saw one Prius after another. Starting counting a few miles outside the Cities, and counted 58 in 155 miles. Thought that was strange.

I've seen a few Volts, and I'm impressed. Makes me wonder what else GM could have done if they spent the last 20 years focusing on "how efficient can we make this?" rather than "how much bigger can we make this SUV?"

I actually like its design. The electric Voltec driveline doesn't impress me so much, but has some potential to be also used in bigger models.

GM had some good compact cars in its European Opel range, which could be a better competition to the Japanese imports. Had even some badge-engineered versions of those Isuzu SUVs and lighter Diesels which could fare better than the boat-anchor Oldsmobile Diesel.
