I learned to drive with my dad, and he does seem to enjoy some hypermiling altough didn't try EOC.

Your OWN mother tells you to drive faster?! Too funny!

My brother thinks it's cool, he hipermiled his 04 duramax diesel after I started in the olds. It's a reg cab 2500 hd but with a stick like mine and he went from 18 to 23.7 mpg. Very good for a 3/4 ton truck..it's lowered on 285 tires also like mine

Mom definitely drives faster than I do. She always has. When I first started driving, I aggravated everyone by obsessing over not exceeding the speed limit, so I was often a MPH or two below.

My mom encourages my hypermiling, always has. Thinks it's 'silly' but in her words I can't argue with the gas savings'.

My dad on the other hand is a different story. He thinks it's 'stupid' and a 'waste of time and effort'. When I remind him that he gets 25-27mpg in his '04 corolla, and I get 68-70 in my insight, he shuts up.

The boyfriend doesn't care in the winter, but in the summer I must run the A/C. Doesn't bother me, getting less mpg to make him happy is worth it anyway .

I understand that mine is not a popular viewpoint on this board.

Kill switch or injector shutoff switch = okay I guess, barely tolerable if I'm honest. Reaching for the ignition switch = unacceptable risk to self/others.

Maybe if we were all driving 1965 VW Beetles I'd feel differently.

After turning off the key and killing the engine, you can turn it right back to "run" and everything will function again.... I guess I'm not seeing how that's an "unacceptable risk" while the act of getting into the car--any car--in the first place, isn't.
