So after two decades of getting invites to the Electric COOP meetings...

I finally go to one. Mainly because they said there would be food.

Anyway, they had a lil display with different kinds of light bulbs and there was a Kill-A-Watt hooked up to it. Hmmm, forum people here and there saying Kill-A-Watt this and Kill-A-Watt that, you are a doof ifn ya dont buy one. So I axed em ifn I could borrow it and they said shure.

Free Kill-A-Watts! I bet lotsa yoos could borrow em from yer local utilities if yer too cheap ta buy one like I am.

They actually had some interesting things to say before we finally got our pie and ice cream. MUCH wind power being added so that was discussed, as well as consumer-owned wind generators and what's involved with that. And then there was a pic in their powerpoint presentation of the new billing girl!

Every libery in my state has 3 energy meters each, you just have to ask at the desk and they give it to you with a fancy case and a little book on how to get the most out of it's use, pie is extra.

Hmmm never thotta that.

Another interesting thing they said was "average monthly] residential usage was 1300 kwh". <I looked just like that and said I could be thier poster boy for conservation as I'm usually under 200 kwh/mo and in twenty years haven't gone over 350 (I don't think). So I sez to the guy next to me I sez, "does that sound right?" and he sez "I average 1300/mo". But then he went on to explain that he has two color TVs going 24/7... oh, and wunna them $400 magic electric space heaters...

We were told in our wind and solar power classes that the average house used 900kwh per month, mine is around 400kwh for 3 people in the winter with an electric stove and electric hot water heater and some big fans on our furnace that run alot.
