Solar panels

I found out yesterday that the power coop I'm moving on to is very solar panel friendly.
They install a cogen meter for no additional charges, they buy excess power at consumer rate of 7 cents per kwh.
They are not demanding you use an ABB inverter only and having your panels installed by nasa and have the system inspected by the state governor.
They actually want solar panels.
I think I know why. I saw their HMI showing power distribution, their lines are probably over loaded in the summer powering irrigation pumps and air conditioning.

Local, instead of grid generation, is definitely the future.

Some places in the US act like they don't want you to have grid tied solar panels.

Yup, but the rest of us can have fun. Most of my ecomodding in recent years has been solar-related. Solar project #5 is nearly online, a travelling workshop and power station for my electric cars.

Washington State just reformed their solar incentive program, with a new round of declining subsidies over the next 8 years designed to offset the marginal cost. The original program locked in subsidies based on solar pricing from over a decade ago, making the payback period excellent for us later arrivals to the solar movement.

Not only in the US. But anyway, if I lived in a house instead of an apartment I'd probably have already tried to go off-the-grid with solar panels and wind power.
