I really enjoyed the original post and am pricing it out now for possible implementation.
I am thinking the side bars and panels can remain permanent and the crossbars slide on the side rails and have zippers running up each side. That way I can just unzip the top and slide it back for bed use.
Let me know if you have any other ideas.

Hopefully I can get a good price on the top itself (I have a friend of friend in the headliner business), My son and I can most likely fab the frame ourselves.
