The aluminum t-channels are riveted on below the skin and help reinforce the long span of this piece.They're kinda like strakes so that's how I refer to them.And they begin right at the leading edge of the diffuser,so they happen to be the lowest part just where the panel begins it's 2.5-degree upsweep.
I'll avoid deep water in the future!
