I had fun reading the thread, especially the little jabs back like "My grandmother can shift her own gears". Funny how the more juvenile the comment, the more "thanks" the post received. That speaks volumes about the typical poster on that forum (teenager that borrows Mums car, perhaps?)

Great point that mpg is an area of performance, and in my opinion, even more-so than what others consider performance. After all, what performance is a person giving when they mash the skinny pedal and put out 300hp? I'd argue the greater performance is in achieving high standards of fuel efficiency.

One guy on there brags that he does 100mph in 10 sec as if that's a good reason to buy the car and get terrible fuel economy. I can do 100mph in half time that while getting 40mpg and spending $5k. Those suggesting you should neuter yourself should blush and then hide when they realize how "unmanly" their rides are in comparison.
