Back when floppy disks had separate sleeves, and the market for newer and better stuff was red hot, one of the company salesmen dropped by the R&D dept. once too often, bugging them for news of a new product. On his next visit, they gave him some bootleg copies of the brochure for whole new kind of memory. He'd been selling RAM, Random Access Memory, and ROM, Read Only Memory, and so he went dashing off to scoop everyone with WOM - Write Only Memory.
