Think this is the best I'm gonna get (Broke 26 with tank)

Still drivin Tank alot cause as it stands it's still more efficient than the mercedes at this point. But this mileage was awesome I went to the gas station filled the tires a little past their max pressure and added a little air to the rear shocks so it sat at the right ride height..
Got on the freeway then got off to check my mileage on it after a 50 mile drive to get my sister 26.4MPG! stayed in the slow lane at 60 the whoooole time tryin to keep those 2 barrels from pourin too much fuel in . I don't think the car will do any better than that without some aero mods but i was pretty proud of the big ol thing

I'm not a master of eco-modding old yank muscle, but that sounds like a very impressive figure to me! Have you done any engine mods for economy or is it standard/performance tuned? Also, why not trying dropping to 55 to see if you can get another mpg or two?

...well, it sounds like NOW you've got some better "real" numbers to post for your car...EPA be damned!

...FWIW the "best" that I ever got on my 70½ AAR Cuda 340/6BBL was 16.1 mpg, but "typical" was more like 10-12 mpg! And (of course) that was right in the middle of the first OPEC oil embargo!

...one difference between you and my car was the number of 2BBL's--mine had 3x2BBL and yours has 1x2BBL (ha,ha).

...so, congratulations on your 26 mpg!

It's pretty much standard performance tuned
K&N air filter Advanced timing for 91 octane gas
Flowmaster muffler with Turndown at rear axle and it has a 3 speed auto with overdrive in it

and i was drivin 60 cause i actually had somewhere to be lol Maybe next time I'll drop it to 55 and see if it yeilds any better MPG

Factory 2bbl, ugh. I remember mine well ('75 Monte - basically same car). I recall swapping in an Edelbrock Performer 600 4 bbl for a nice improvement in mpg - when I could keep my foot out of it.

A spread bore 4bbl like a Quadrajet can give better mpg than a 2bbl.

It's the difference of a 2bbl with mid-size barrels, or a 4bbl with 2 small barrels and 2 big barrels. As long as you can keep your foot out of it enough to keep the secondaries closed on the 4bbl, it can be more efficient.
