Early Adopters Wanted

From memory after one viewing:
  • smallest in class
  • inert and incombustible
  • indefinite shelf life
  • 0-100% charge/discharge
  • 100% efficiency (0 hysterisis)
  • 10kWh in 4x3x2ft package, 600kWh in a shipping container
  • positive ROI at top of price curve

I'm probably forgetting something. It works by electroplating Zinc onto/off of a plastic membrane.

They talk about it, and so I can see why.

Production in the hundreds, not the tens of thousands. Hence the thread title.

ZBM2 - 10kWh Flow Battery - Redflow

Interesting. Sounds great for home-use.

Price, of course, would dictate a lot...

"More expensive than a lithium-ion battery" though "Lower cost of ownership".

(Sounds like a good replacement for NiFe batteries to me.)

This story (and the EVTV shop fire) sort of put me off liquid electrolyte batteries; especially considering the Goodenough glass battery. Those for mobile and the flow battery for fixed locations sounds good enough to me. Zinc Bromide is apparently benign.
