Came across this G1 Insight on Craigslist

2001 Honda Insight Hybrid "Gas Sipper"

Doesn't have much info in the ad other than the low miles, but this could be had for three grand and it's a sub 100k car!

And here's a second one with high miles but working IMA that would go for two grand

http://orlando.craigslist.org/cto/4933129920.html

Now is the time to buy these things, don't wait til gas prices go back up or they'll be going for ridiculous prices

Oh, man.

I gotta pay off the one I have before I'm allowed to get another.

Yeah, if I didn't already have one, and these weren't on the other side of the country...

But how the heck does anyone manage to get only 52 mpg from an Insight? Maybe the parking brake has been stuck since they bought it?

Yeah, right? I averaged 61 mpg on the way home from buying my first Insight, in the middle of summer with the AC blasting and sitting it a couple of traffic jams

I can't believe the low lifetime mpgs a lot of Insights show, are they racing them?

Nah, it's close to two hours from me (not that I haven't driven farther than that to buy an Insight) but I'm booked up the rest of this week and pretty much all weekend or I'd run up there and look at it for you.

That's a good deal if it's not a POS. You could probably get him to send you a bunch of pics at least, but the two important things (IMA condition and downshift grind) are things you have to view in person

My manual insight had a 47.2 lifetime mpg when I bought it. I had a insight come into the shop yesterday that had 36.6 lifetime mpg (manual).

Most people that don't understand these cars or know how to drive them, and put oversized cheap tires and drive without the IMA won't get better than 40.
