Going to ride to a restaurant in itsuki tomorrow (which is about the most burakumin place in the world I think) to interview the owner who specializes in cooking wild plants and some kind of little trout.

Is the Prius efficiency driving guide you referenced in your blog written in Japanese or English? I'd be interested to flip through one or track one down for sale on the web...given it was the English version of course!

Japanese. I will track one down for us soon enough and translate the interesting parts. I am taking today and tomorrow off. Today I need to track down a delivery service but tomorrow I will head into town and buy some magazines that might interest ecomodders in particular.

I also have a few blogs for EM for the coming week about my experiences here.

On a selfish note, have you seen many/alot of 2010 Prius on the road there? They've only been out for a short time but wondering if they have been met with open arms in their homeland? Over here they are just starting to be released (Portland, OR two weeks ago) and I believe the anticipated mania over the new model has been limited to pre-sales. Many dealers are now sitting on 2010 models while trying to unload their 2009 models first. There are no waiting lists for the new model...IMO because of the economy and not the attribures of the car.

I saw one the other day and thought "holy crap is this the begging of the end" and havent seen another. So two weeks, on 3rd gen prius. Seems a little low since Ive been outside a ton and put in several hundred miles on the bike. Seen a few dozen insights and probably hundreds of 2nd gen priuses, but even more kei cars, honda fits, and toyota vitzes (yarises)
