Traffic jams caused by defensive drivers?

Traffic Jams Are Caused by Defensive Drivers - Asylum.com

Me, I think excessive traffic is caused by breeders and the lazy.

I know the right lanes move faster and with less stop and go than the left. Who are in the left lanes? The aggressive drivers. Not me, I get better mileage in the right lane.

I saw a video of cars on a circular test track. They started out evenly spaced, with instructions to maintain an even speed and spacing. They still bunched up and created jams. Whenever I get to the slowest part of an obstruction, I tailgate instead of rubbernecking.

Around here everyone piles into the left lane, if they aren't trying to pass on the right and pull over 3 feet in front of you at 60 MPH.

Even when the traffic is light the morons still bunch up and play the herd game. It's so stupid to see hundreds of yards of free space and 7 cars tailgating each other and taking stupid risks for nothing but a seconds difference in arrival time.

When they get on the Interstate they immediately go to the left lane and create a terrible whiplash scenario when cars approaching at to high a speed slam on their brakes to keep from nailing the guy who just merged in front of them at 30 MPH in a 65 zone.

It gets so bad I just take other routes on many days.

Hard to hypermile around a bunch of hypermorons .

regards
Mech

...like Brownian-movement of amoeba, "rubber-banding" occurs when everybody tries to "pass" one another at the same time, at the same position, at the same speed.

...Autobahn driving illustrates this doesn't happen when all left laners do 65 mph, all middle laners do 60 mph, and all right laners do 55 mph.

Sure you can. It's called a bicycle race!

Actually, you can't have traffic without people.

They're not tailgating hypermorons. They're drafting hypermilers

I figured it was all caused by automatic transmissions and the need to use your brakes to slow down at all, the person behind you sees brakes lights and they apply their brakes as well, if you look ahead on the highway you will see it happen all the time, traffic ahead never slows fully but each person who uses their brakes slows down just a little more until someone comes to a stop.

What causes worse traffic jams defensive drivers who leave space for others to get over and merge? Or aggressive drivers who fly up on some one and follow to close when the driver in front brakes causing them to rear-end them or get rear ended?
