Turbo Heat Shield Economy Boost?

With a tad over 5000 miles on the Fusion, I am beginning to realize that the heat from the turbo engine can really heat up the garage after a 45 mile road trip. Keeping the heat in the turbo is part of the advantage of a turbo to begin with.

I have read a couple of articles that advise to install a turbo heat shield to prevent heat damage to the hoses under the hood. Have also read that a heat shield will improve the power output of the engine based on dyno testing. Usually anything that yields greater power will also give greater economy as well.

Does anyone out there know of reports on turbo heat shield economy or had real world experience with a turbo heat shield? Perhaps there is something to be gained which has seldom been explored.

Not much experiance with them but there are plenty of turbo blanket options on the market. Bring your gas mask when you fire the car up for the first couple times because those things STINK when they are "burning in". Contained heat may destroy your catalytic converter and you'll want to use really good oil to keep from killing the turbo's bearing since the blanket will hold more heat for longer time with oil not flowing through the bearing.
