That guy was quite the opposite of a pickup-driving doof I encountered recently. Evidently I failed to accelerate away from a red light quickly enough for his tastes and the litany I heard through my open moonroof about it would have made a sailor blush. So I saluted him and then he offered to pull over and fight. Feeling that even the salute was more effort than should have been wasted on him, I proceeded to my destination. I saw that he followed, but then the strangest thing happened: I got out of my car, and he left. Too bad. Could have been educational for him.

So this kind of reminds me of the other day... Wonderboy and I are at the junkyard, and I'm admiring the quite obvious mods to his Civic.

As we're standing around BS'ing, some nutsack comes walking up the ped ramp, googley eyeing Wonderboy's car... probably thinking "Hey, look at that damn ricer, thinks his car is the **** and blahblahblah fast, etc."

Me, in my usual attitudinal stance, kept half an eye on this guy as he walked up the ped ramp into the parking area, then got into his car (a Nissan Altima) and took his time driving by, staring at the obvious grille blocks and then giving us both funny looks, while I maintained my "If you only knew" appearance.

I'm sure he thought something far off from what was actually going on, but if only he'd stopped and asked some rhetorical question about ricers and what not, he'd have been more likely to understand.

I'd like to think that people might open their eyes at some point... instead, I find it more and more likely that I'll just close mine.

Great story yang

I do agree with you guys, though. I can't stand when people jump to conclusions about our driving style. They think we're horrible people that shouldn't be on the roads, when in fact we are more aware of our surroundings, and less likely to run someone off the roads. I wish I could actually talk to these people that give odd looks or fly past us cursing out their window.

Wow I am impressed. My beginnings of slower driving came about that way, when I saw that I was keeping up with folks stopped at stop lights who previously had blown my doors off.
