tv show with ~5min hypermiling clip

http://www.hulu.com/watch/14270/test...age#s-p1-so-i0

The show is 23minets long. The hypermilling section starts at 15:50. Wayne Gerdes tries to teach the clueless host how to beat the epa. It mentions a lot of driving techniques but goes over them very quickly.

Well, I don't know if this show is on tv or internet only but, it is well made.

Looks like it is from a show called "Test Drive" that aired back in November of 2007.
You can buy it via Amazon.

So...P&G...I know the concept, now I've seen it done...I think I'll try this from now on and see what happens. I don't know how well it will work in an auto transmission car though...my car doesn't coast too well unfortunately.

P&G is a bit too complicated to do properly with an automatic transmission.

I have an auto transmission and I will shut the car off and drift down longer hills. Also, I will shut it off at traffic lights that I know last a while.

Engine off gliding can harm automatic transmissions that aren't made to be flat towed (most aren't afik). Consult your users manual to know if you can flat tow your vehicle or not.

my owners manual says no more then 55mph flat towing so it looks like around town EOC only for me :thumb:

When I do P&G I just try to stay above 45mph (where TC lock is) and I gradually accelerate to 55mph (in 45mph zones, courtesy of GA's generous 10mph over law) and then throw it in neutral with engine on to minimize gas usage while I coast as long as I can till I reach 45mph again and then I pop it back in drive an continue. Been doing it now for about 2000 miles and so far no harm has come of it. I guess we will see what the future holds...but I really just need to buy a manual.
