Ugh....37mpg

Got 37mpg over about 300 miles once I filled up my tank yesterday. LA traffic is horrible, talk about on a 40 mile commute today I averaged 24mph...on the freeway! A hybrid is the only commuter vehicle that makes sense here...or in New York....or Mexico City

Heck, I'm feeling pretty good when I manage 37mpg. My last tank was 34.5mpg, and I am not happy about it, though driving into a headwind in the cold will do that to you. I might as well have been doing 90mph for that 50 mile stretch.

JQmile's car is a A Chevette diesel?

JQmile -

Yeah, I'm not looking forward to my next tank. LA driving only works when you have an established route with divergent paths for escaping traffic jams. You need maximum flexibility for getting from A to B. I wish we had a *dedicated* city-owned AM traffic station reporting traffic 24/7. The public news radio channels with 10-minute updates only come through maybe 40% of the time.
