is hthe error message generated, regardless of what is entered.

Also seems to be happening in other forums?

I've seen this error a few times. I think it may be related to the thread title.

Can you tell me exactly what thread title you use when the error happens, then try again with a completely different title?

If that solves it and I collect a few examples, I can open a bug report with vBulletin.

Title I was trying to use was "2011 The year of the Electric Car (in the UK)"

the same new thread posted fine wiith another title, so I reckon it must either be the brackets or starting with a number..thats causing the issue

Believe the problem has been fixed.

I tested the fix with your thread title and again without, and it did what was expected.
