upshift light troubles?

I currently own a 94 Civic vx and i swapped the tranny for a dx 5sp because of a bad isb bearing. Since then i noticed my shift light comes on when im in 5th gear doing 55-60 mph. It doesnt bother me during the day but at night it can get annoying.Ive searched and i think i read somewhere that there could be some kind of vaccume leak.Does any one know what i can do to fix this.

your car thinks it's in 4th gear because the engine is running to fast for how fast you are going so it's telling to you shift in to the higher gear that is no longer there because you put a DX transmision in.
The way to fix this is to put a transmision in with the proper gearing.

Older civic FE's and CRX HF's used a back up switch with a 2nd set of contacts in it so it could tell if you were in 5th gear, the vx however has the ECU monitor engine speed and vehicle speed and stops turning on the up shift light when the engine speed and vehicle speed show that you are in 5th gear.
