BSFC...like maybe .3lb/hp/hr. Ain't too good but will run on straight peanut/coolikg oil.

Today I got a sparkling deal on 10, yup TEN NEW Northstar AGM Energy 1 batteries, 170 amp hours, 12 volts, 500+ discharge cycles, long life, etc. These brutes weigh 128lbs each. This is half the EV vehicle costs. One is more powerful than an 8D battery for a semi truck but is half the size, much less finicky. The 1 banger diesel and big frame 150 amp alternator will charge the system quite well. The regulator was designed to charge AGM batteries.

Now if I can get them out of the pickup truck without busting my back, I will be happy.

I'm stuck in Californicate. I hope to outlive the dopers, pesto eaters, and screwballs. I want to be the only kid on the block with lights, freezers, ammo, and tons of barter supplies when the Big One hits. No way I could leave here. Besides, no gaters on my porch.

No, I haven't done anything with the Kubota. Been thinking about selling it, actually. Mostly for the reasons you mentioned. I'm scared that I might build something that gets worse mileage than a Metro XFi.

I like your handle Gasoline Fumes. I am in the middle of putting a 6.5 GM turbodiesel in mt 21 foot boat. Maybe I'll lose the name I got and will start going by Diesel Breath.

I got my big batteries linked up and tried the Kubota under load to see if the regulator and inverter charger ran OK. Yes, all went well so the stuff was a real bargain after all.

Maybe that little diesel of yours would make a nifty Margarita mixer.

Ha ha ha...Climber and Old Man..... I got a hold of a very nice Detroit Diesel 3-53 marine engine but it was so heavy that it broke me engine hoist. It would certainly sink my aluminum boat. So I plan to someday mount it on a trailer, fit apehanger motorcycle handlebars, highway pegs, and a chopper seat, and install a 25 gallon blender on the front of it for the World's Weirdest Margarita Machine. (Hey...how about World's Most Powerful Marital Aid???)

You'se guys are invited for the trial run! Bring salt. ...The Kimmer
