Using old cellphone cameras for side view mirrors

Hello,

I've got 2 cellphones that I'm not using anymore. The video camera function still works on them and the color LCD displays still work. I was wondering if anyone has ever used the cameras from a cellphones to replace their side mirrors and placed the displays on the inside of the car.

Would seem to be easier to just use simple and inexpensive web-cam type cameras and a useable sized LCD viewing screen.
