My new car already had aero mods..

I don't have to do anything..

Air dam under the nose and the rear wheels have a little micro-dam..
Of course the roof rack negates those gains..

I was spoiled by having the rack on the old CRV, and I just had to have
one on my new ride..

Aw man... I don't ever put anything on the roof... SUVs and Vans are too top-heavy these days anyway.

I'm definately with Piwoslaw here, especially in the fog lights, wheels, and grille. If it's 4WD, see what's involved in converting to 2WD. I'll bet you could bondo in the ridges on the side sills. And those mirrors look enormous.

You're not going to tell me that's an economical car, but I am glad to see that Ford engineers paid attention to aero details, even if the car as a whole is much taller, more square, and more capable than is needed.

You would convert a brand new car from 4wd to fwd? You'd bondo up a brand new car? Seriously?

from AWD to FWD??

About once or twice a year, I need to stick something up on the roof..
I've been using roof racks since about 1973 and I'm spoiled..

My old CRV didn't come with any installed, so I got the OEM racks and used them a lot.

Someday when my wife gets a Prius, I'll buy racks for it..

And, I did convert my CRV from AWD to FWD. The rear wheel parts
were starting to give me problems, so I took the out and got much
better MPG and a quicker car.

The Ford guys wanted those old parts as part of my trade in.. Fine with me.

Anyways, this new ride has FWD only. It has a new design 6 speed AT
and a new design 2.5L ICE that runs at low RPMs most of the time.
The shift computer is always looking to get up to 6th gear ASAP..

I should be able to get about the same MPG as the CRV or better..

6F35 6 Speed AT engine RPMs at highway speeds

At least the highway speeds that I drive around here..

If I keep it at 50 to 55, I'm pretty sure it's not going to to be a gas hog..
With those low RPMs, it should do pretty well..

I've got to get back in for another refill.. I think the pump cut off too early on the last one, giving me a higher MPG..
This car has a quick-fill set up (no gas cap), and you have to be sure not to 'top off', or you could get a spill over.

That's a pretty sweet ride, I'd say... maybe the "downturn" finally sparked interest in saving fuel?
