Pretty much. My pickup, and the Camry to a lesser extent, are just a maze of vacuum solenoids, wiring, and all sorts of crap, but my grandpa's Corolla is sparse under the hood, even though it's probably way cleaner.

Duffman is probably right. We'll just have to agree to disagree and move on in our respective quests for MPG.

And the additional fertilizer goes into the ground water AND the acid rain goes into the ground water and it makes it expensive or impossible to drink from. Give me clean air, water, and natural habitat over slightly cheaper diesel fuel any day. It's our own fault we rely on personal cars and freight for too much, anyways.
Agreed, ironically though sulfur has a very high reflective index, so the reduction in the sulfur content of our atmosphere has actually contributed to global warming. Back in the 1970s they were predicting an ice age due to sulfur emissions. Now we're being super careful about it, one of the last ditch ideas I've seen floated around is emitting huge amounts of sulfur into the upper atmosphere to decrease the amount of sunlight reaching the surface.
