vw lineup sucks gas.

I was just on the vw site, and the rabbit, jetta, and beetle all have the 2.5l 5cyl engine now?! average is like 24mpg. What a disgrace. The R32 gets 18mpg city. It is a freaking hatchback.
Will they please start making reliable or moderately efficient cars again, or at least focus on one of the two.
geez.

Volkswagen is the car of the people, not the car of environmental responsibility.

At least they could be easy on the collective wallet of the people, then, and not just satisfy our desire for untapped power.

Wasn't there a chart floating around that showed the gas mileage that the 1.3L direct injection turbo, gasoline gulf got for mileage? I was thinking that was in the high 40's, of course not sold in the US, but they make them, they know how.

I would love to drive a vw like many of us, but darn it all, why did they have to lose their way. Its funny that they discontinued the tdi, and jacked up engine sizes almost immediately afterwards. Now they will prolly introduce yet another mediocre overpriced hybrid into the market to compensate. Super.

or maybe we will get diesel bluemotion in the near future?

The BlueMotion Polo uses a special 1.4 L Diesel engine which achieves 60.3 US MPG while producing just 99 grams of CO2 per kilometre. Both figures beat the hybrid Toyota Prius.

please no more sub 60mpg hybrids, give us cheap efficiency!!!
