Libyan Rocket: Colonel Muammar Gaddafi designs a "safe" car — Autoblog

*somewhat edited* Brotherly Leader and Guide of the Revolution (aka Muammar Gaddafi) designed a car. Called the Saroukh el-Jamahiriya (Libyan Rocket), Gaddafi's car seats five, has a 230-hp V6 and the nose and tail of a rocket.

Launched at a conference called the Organization of African Unity and organized by Colonel Gaddafi, the Rocket is set to be be produced in Tripoli, Libya's capital where a factory is set to be built next month. Why is Libya building a car, and why did Col. Gaddafi design it? Safety. In response to the high numbers of people killed and injured annually on Libya's roads, Gaddafi had to act. Says a spokesman, "The leader spent so many hours of his valuable time thinking of an effective solution. It is the safest car produced anywhere."

The Libyan Rocket does come with airbags, an "electronic defense system" (no idea) and collapsible bumpers that supposedly help out in a crash.

With the term "Rocket", I expected to see something "safe" like this though, armed of course, for safety.

This is major news: in his dotage, Kadafy only has the best interest of his
suppressed subjects at heart...

No, I take that back, he has the deepest concern for all mankind. Amazing
isn't it that this had been hidden or overlooked for such a long time...
It must be a conspiracy by the Western media.

I am sure that next he will turn his attention to designing the world's safest
car bomb.

But wait... there is a method to his madness. I suspect that as many as 3
Libyans can afford the Rocket. So Kadafy is really saying that the safest car
is one that essentially none of the downtrodden populace can buy.

More simply, the safest car is no car at all. Brilliant! This Man/God is a
genius and must be listened to. I for one can now see the One True Path...

Does anybody know where I can buy a clean, low mileage camel?
