Hi All,
I have wanted to build an e-motorcycle for a long time, and i just picked up a suitable bike - a 2004 Honda CRF230 for about $300. Motor was blown but everything else checks out good! Although it is a dirt bike, I will convert it for street, with street tires, headlight, signals etc...
I'm real excited to get started, and basically I NEED EVERYTHING!
(sprockets, chain, cable i can get cheap locally..)
Planning on a 72 volt system. Will consider 48v if i can achieve below...
Desired top speed 70 Kph (~45mph), with reasonably decent acceleration.
Desired Range at least 30 kms (~20 miles)
Desired Battery pack weight: under 150 lbs. (i hate the idea of sluggish handling and and ugly batteries sticking out).
My desired budget is to keep this under $1500 total cost, so I'm looking for good deals on used if possible.
Looking for your new or used:
-Controller (popular brands only),
-motor (thinking etek type like mars),
-batteries (SLA),
-contactor? (read i need that, still don't know why),
-fuse,
-oh sh$t button (emergency disconnect),
-grip throttle pot (magura?),
-meter guage display of some sort (speedo, amps, volts).
-charging system - an array of individual cheap 12v chargers is a possibility. would put them on a timer for safety.
