Honda Ct70, street legal, but I wasn't, XL175 was street legal as well, but I still wasn't. Ninja 250 smallest, FZ1 ZG1000 tied for biggest. Had 2 xr50 for the kids, since sold, XR70 & XR80 still in garage with KDX200.
Thinking I should sell the KDX get another KLR650.

JethroBodine! Is/was the KZ 400 a belt drive? Are they reliable? When did Kawa
start the belt thing?
I like the idea of no chain lube mess, but older Kawa's versus Honda's for finding ANY
parts seems a sad tune.
Did anyone else make a non cruiser/custom (pull back style handlebars) belt drive
as an option in the 350-550 cc class range?
I prefer older bikes for the price aspect, but finding parts for that kind of bike ( other parts not belt related), may be just somewhat of a dream.
What say you all?

I've got an '81 yamaha sr185. awesome little bike though you have to tuck in to go 70. I'm gonna enter it in the Vetter Challenge in Ohio. I went last year but didn't finish due to "technical difficulties". I blew a tire!

Larry-
I've had several older( think 70's) KZ motorcycles, an all have been chain drive. All KZs that I've heard of from that era( early 70s into the 80s) have been bulletproof. I generally ride my bikes to death( literally the last stop before total scrap), and only sold my KZs for more than I bought them for, and in running condition. Never left me stranded, and I had some 5-year-woodpile-leaners.
Also, I completely forgot that I've had a '57 Ducati Desmo 250 one lunger. Bought it as a basket case that someone had gone to the trouble of painting all the non-chrome parts, taken the engine apart to clean it, and dumping the parts( and a spare engine) in a box. I got the bike all assembled, except the engine, moved 200 miles away for a new job, gave the bike to my Brother-in-Law, and have no idea where it is now.

'86 Honda Helix 250cc scooter. Rode that thing in-town with a two-position throttle (full on and full off) and a slipping belt and still managed 55 mpg.

I had a 2001 Yamaha BW50 scooter. Stock it would do 43 mph, 83 mpg. I upgraded the variator and rollers, primary gearset (geared taller) and 70cc Athena big bore kit and then it would do 62 mph when I was in a full tuck. 100 mpg after the mods. Down a hill I buried the needle a few times, so probably almost 70 mph. Surprisingly stable at that speed. Glad no cops ever caught me!

Does a cruiser bicycle with a Bike Bug 22cc engine count?
I guess I look a little silly (oversized) on my CB450... but then again maybe I just look silly period?
