1968 AMC Rebel:

232 cu. in. straight 6-cylinder with single barrel carb; the valves clattered a lot...

3-speed auto

drum brakes all around -- if they got wet, you had to dry them by dragging the brake pedal...

the typical softly sprung, poorly damped "boat" suspension with bias-ply tires

It probably had a straight steering column without a collapsing knuckle

Steel bumpers directly bolted to the frame

Lap seat beats only -- the front seat was a bench that could seat 3 people...

1988 Pontiac Fiero...It never left the shop. It seemed like for every 2 weeks I drove it, it had to be in the shop 3 days for something or another...

Daewoo (now Chevvy) Matiz.

3 cyl 800cc mini MPV stylee car - looks good but :

- Suspension feels like its going to fall over
- Bodywork steel so thin that "dent remover" guy just pushed them out with his fingers
- Used fuel at under 35 MPG
- Gearbox is only worthy of the name
- Had a nasty smell.

Luckily in the UK you can hand back a car after 50% of the credit agreement so I did. I ignored the "this will affect your credit rating" response as this is illegal, and then bought a FIAT.

I can't fault the truck--it was the wrong truck for the job. (The job being driving through deep snow, going long distances with decent gas mileage and parking in a regular space.) I'd towed a few trailers and sometimes drove it heavily loaded and it accelerated like it was empty. Oh, and it went to 202,000 miles before I sold it.
