How do you get tank average and trip average MPG on your main gauge? I have a newer one with xgauge is it one of those?

For my 2000 Cherokee I almost never move it off of:

MPG - instant "right foot conscience"
AVG - this is the "game" number that I'm always working to get as high as possible
MPH - 6% larger tires and the factory speedo has a bit of laziness in it's movements
TPS - used in conjuntion with the instant MPG to get best FE (and control the right foot)

I've found the most important gauge to be the TPS, although sometimes when I can I switch on the LOD instead of MPH to dial it in even more. Since I'm used to the vehicle, I've been able to use the TPS to most accurately put the throtttle where it will work best consistantly to keep FE up.

Just got my SG for my new-to-me 2004 Dakota. It's going to use more gas than the now-retired Focus, but I'm getting better and better at squeezing it down with my new best friend/overseer/benevolent tyrant Scangauge.

LHK - Metric MPG for instant feedback.
AVG
LOD -
CWT - Metric coolant temp.

I do a lot of hgwy and discovered LOD on a long trip. I use to aggressily pass big rigs on the freeway. Now I try to draft a little bitand wait for a larger 'gap' in the fast lane instead of flooring it.........
you can see the effect of the drafting with the load setting.

fyi
I also run a size up on mt tires 255/45/18 instead of 245. I have a Garmin GPS and used the mph function to set the correct mph on the scangaugeII. Actually i swithed both over to metric setting and set it that way. My scangauge is almost always exactly the same as my GPS.

has anyone found the TEMP to be 'off' My car has a 180 degree thermostat and my scangauge runs 197 to 202??
