What is your favorite settings for your scanner

I just got an ultragauge.
My vehicles have automatic transmissions.
I figure instant fuel economy is probably the number one setting. Keeping the cars in closed loop as well. What other settings do you find important and why?

I like to view my mileage for the tank since fillup. I also display boost and water temperature since I have no gauges in my Beetle. I have a Scangauge, presumably you can get similar outputs with the Ultra.

Had my first over the road trip with my OD van (Econoline) today with the Ultragauge.

I tried several settings on page one. Finally decided that the instant economy and trip economy were by far the most important settings. The route was about 150 miles, I averaged 20.8 mpg. The route was hilly. I mounted the gauge below my line of sight. and after a ways I thought that keeping the van above 20mpg was a good goal. At low speeds it was hard to keep it over 10mpg (10-14% grades) but at about 60 it was easy to keep it over 20mpg if fairly flat. Next trip will be flatter and I will try to keep it over 60mph.

When I stopped for gas near my destination there was a gal with a black Prius, I asked her about it and she said that she got 43 mpg. I felt good that I was carrying a van load of stuff and still getting almost 50% of that.

I would say that it won't take me that long to pay for my scanner gauge.

MPGuino here.
I mostly use the instant MPG reading, since it helps me adjust how much lead I've got on the pedal. I also like to switch back to current trip MPG periodically to see the "real world" value that I'm getting (since instant can swing pretty wide and I can't do calculus in my head). Sometimes I also check tank MPG, at least during fillup when I compare with the tank MPG I get from the pump and odometer.

I'm looking at upgrading to an Ultra Gauge. I would like to have engine temperature before I start doing any grill blocks, so I can be more aggressive in the winter and not overheat in the summer.

I filled my tank on my Econoline today. I was surprised to note that the Ultra gauge said 19.7mpg I went 256 miles and put in 14.7 gallons giving me 17.4mpg. It amounted to 1.7 gallons difference or about 13% off.

I didn't fill at the same station each time but I did reset the mpg counter when I filled both times. Still the number seems more off than I would expect. I will be monitoring.
