I pulled this off of a tire today...

A sign of things to come? I forgot to check the DOT code to see if it was manufactured recently.

what do the grades A-G mean? Why a decibel rating? Is 71 a good Db rating? IDK.

It has both the EAN and UPC barcodes(does europe use UPC?), so...? I had never seen one before in person. I hope it wasn't a mistake/tire shipped in from another country. It would be pretty awesome to have some actual information about the tires we buy instead of just marketing fluff.

A is better than G. I read up on it and the difference between A and G is 9% in fuel economy. The other chart was a wet stopping distance rating. Don't know about how good the decibel rating is.

It is EU tag, I see them around at least five years. Afaik the tagging was forced by some EU commitee and thus lacks more consumer- oriented info like tread wear.

The dB rating differs by 1 to 2 dB in different tires, but this is no surprise as - iirc - being 6 dB less loud means that you are making half the noise.

Close... interesting... "the logarithmic decibel scale goes up in powers of ten: every increase of 10dB on the scale is equivalent to a 10-fold increase in sound intensity (which broadly corresponds with a doubling in loudness)."
How decibel sound level meters work - Explain that Stuff
