I went ~200 km yesterday, merely aiming a machine that was in control of its own speed!!

(Yet I know people who won't even use conventional ('dumb') cruise control because they don't like the feeling of lack of control.)

Not just lack of control, but MIS-control. Dumb cruise control oesn't know how to anticipate the road ahead and do DWL &c.

Even though everybody has some lazyness moments when would rather have a machine doing all the work, autonomous cars are not trustworthy enough at least by now.
